If you ever become bored using
:b[N]<CR> to switch to the N-th buffer, try this
[N]C-^ in normal mode.
Pressing Ctrl-^ with no count switches to the previous buffer. If count N is provided, it switches to buffer N. For example, instead of using
:b1<CR> to switch to the first buffer, press
1 then Ctrl-^.
